Recap of National Pollinator Week

From Saturday, June 19th until Saturday, June 26th we wanted to make a loud noise about pollinators with the hope that many would jump on the pollinator highway. With the aide of WOWD, Main Street Takoma and the City of Takoma Park, TALLE’s Climate Action Coffee, did just that. Takoma Park’s first celebration of National Pollinator Week was put on this years list of memorable events with a fun filled week of radio shows of delightful pollinator songs, original pollinator beverages served and sold at local restaurants, a kick-off program that showcased poetry, songs, puppet shows, food web policy, tabling by supporting organizations and native plant sales and seed give aways. Folks toured local native plant gardens , and perused photographic prints of botanical prints. After co-hosting an educational forum with the City of Takoma Park called “Birds, Bees, Bugs and Butterflies: The Pollinator Highway and You, CAC took its resources and art table to Crossroads Farm Market and then to the Charles Koiner Farm to cap the week with more plant demonstrations, and a picnic. A good time was had by all.
