ACTION ALERT: Two ways to fight Pruitt’s EPA nomination before Wednesday’s vote

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Two ways to fight Pruitt between now and Wednesday’s vote:  First is a list of calls to make and share, and second is an in-person lobbying opportunity at 10am on Wednesday with Moms Clean Air Force.

1.  Many thanks to those of you who contributed your inside knowledge to Margot’s call list on Pruitt.  The final list is below.  Please contact everyone you know in these states and share this action alert widely.

Call these key Senators to tell them you totally oppose Scott Pruitt as Administrator of the EPA. Scott Pruitt has a documented record of placing oil and gas industry profits ahead of the public good.  Putting Scott Pruitt in charge of the EPA is like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse. Unfortunately, in this case, the hens are America’s health and the environment.  Also, please share this information with your friends and family who live in the states of the Senators listed below, and ask them to contact their Senators ASAP to oppose Scott Pruitt.

Augusta, ME:  (207) 622-8414
Washington, DC:  (202) 224-2523

2.   A second, in-person lobbying opportunity from Moms Clean Air Force, <> a very savvy organization with over a million members:  They are looking for *parents *to meet them on the Hill at *10am on Wednesday morning* to lobby their own short list of senators on Pruitt. (The list overlaps with the one above but is not identical because it is based on their pre-existing relationships.)  You do not need to be a constituent, as you will be there representing a national organization with members in every state.  The organizers will provide training upon arrival.  Scroll down for details from Karin Quimby (, their new National Field Organizer, and feel free to share with people you think might be interested.  I know of at least one person from TP Mobilization who will be there already!

WHO: Parents who care about air pollution and climate change.

WHAT: Talk to Senators and their staff about Scott Pruitt. We will provide talking points. Please note that we are not scheduling formal meetings; we will literally be milling in hallways to buttonhole target Senators and their staff.  Target Senators are:
– Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
– Susan Collins (R-ME)
– Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
– Dean Heller (R-NV)
– Rob Portman (R-OH)
– Joe Donnelly (D-IN)
– Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND)

WHERE: Meet at Hart Senate Office Building lobby (near the huge sculpture); Look for Moms in red-tshirts; Wednesday’s point of contact: Write for information.

WHEN: Wednesday 2/8, from 10 am to 1 pm (or whenever you need to leave)

HOW:  Please RSVP to Karin Quimby at so that she will know you’re coming (and will have enough t-shirts for everyone!).  Please CC to help me keep track of my recruitment efforts!
