October 20, 2019: Maryland Progressive Legislative Forum with the D20 Delegates

Please join us Sunday for a…

Maryland Progressive Legislative Forum with the District 20 delegates, 4 PM–6 PM at Piney Branch Elementary School, 7510 Maple Avenue in Takoma Park. That’s this weekend, October 20.

We will discuss progressive priorities and plans for the Maryland 2020 legislative session with District 20 Delegates David Moon, Jheanelle K. Wilkins, and Lorig Charkoudian. (D20 Senator William Colonel Smith Jr is on military deployment.) The session starts in early January and runs until mid-April.

What’s pending? Let’s talk about Community Choice Energy, which would facilitate local governments’ brokering clean electricity for residents and businesses. (Here’s an EPA page on the topic.) School funding is a big concern and also the Corridor Cities Transitway, an important Montgomery Country transit project canceled by Governor Hogan, and Beltway and I-270 widening. We’ve also asked the delegates to address recent and up-coming General Assembly leadership changes. There’s a lot to discuss!

Event cosponsors are Takoma Park Mobilization, the Maryland Legislative Coalition, and ACLU People Power–Montgomery County. All are welcome!
