DON’T AGONIZE. MBILIZE!

RESISTING ICE - LESSONS LEARNED
Sunday, April 19th         2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Seventh Day Adventist Church
6951 Carroll Avenue, Takoma Park

Our neighbors are being abducted from Takoma Park streets. We need to be better prepared! ICE and Customs and Border Patrol are ramping up their staff, infrastructure, and surveillance to launch new waves of detentions and deportations. A detention center is to be built in Hagerstown and an ICE/CBP operation center will be installed in Hyattsville. Takoma Park neighbors will be among the main targets.
To be prepared, we need to learn from activists and leaders who have led resistance struggles in our community and at county, state and national levels.
•	Join Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen who has been at the forefront of resistance efforts at the national level;
•	Hear Jonathan Smith, Director of Maryland Attorney General’s Civil Rights Division, who will share lessons from legal confrontations with federal agencies;
•	Learn how WE ARE CASA has led Maryland’s legislative efforts to defend against ICE/CBP with amazing success;
•	Congregation Action Network will share experiences and lessons drawn from organizing efforts in Minneapolis;
•	Learn how State and County Immigration Offices are scaling up their programs in anticipation of growing demand from our vulnerable community members;
•	Share eyewitness stories from Hagerstown and Hyattsville from leaders who have been at the forefront of local resistance movements.

BE THERE!            BE PREPARED!
